"That line is always one that Jailbreak treads so expertly well, and a compromise that explains why it’s garnered such a secure place in the HL modding community’s heart. Funny yet addictive, crazy yet balanced, ludicrous, yet so instantly simple – the Jailbreak team has managed to capture everything we love about HL multiplayer and mix it in with good, old fashioned fun – but at its heart, it’s still a damn good game of team deathmatch. You owe it to yourself to go play it."

InstantRespawn Review:
"As my bullet-ridden, laser-singed corpse slumped to the ground, I experienced a memorable moment. In the brief spectator mode between deaths, I stood hovering above my lifeless self watching a torrent of Dinosaurs, armed only with blades, funnel out of the jail and set upon our enemy Robots. They tore them apart and in those short moments the tables were turned. It’s situations like these that make Jailbreak an unpredictable experience and a mod worth playing."

Podcast 17 Interview:
Podcast 17

On the 24th of January 2010 we had the pleasure of being interviewed by the guys at Podcast 17! "William: What would say if you looked back three years and asked yourselves how would Jailbreak look today? Wills: Well, if we didn't have the input of our community... and Dave... Who I blame entirely for the Robots and Dinosaurs thing! Dave: I'm sorry! I didn't think you run with that!"

"While countless mods have offered 'jailbreak' modes over the years, the new release of The Orange Box mod Jailbreak: Source presents it in a very unconventional way--pitting robots against dinosaurs."

Rock, Paper, Shotgun Article:
Rock, Paper, Shotgun

"Ah, how it’s grown. Where once Jailbreak hid its light under a bushel of reused City 17 character models, now it’s a bespoke, insane clash of dinosaurs and robots against cod-historical backdrops. It’s just hit its 0.6 release, and the Jailbreak Team seem to be treating this as though it’s the mod’s first proper release. Maybe it is, and any prior memories we have of it are simply a collective hallucination, like that time when poodles took over the planet for an entire Wednesday."

"Sometimes something comes along that’s so batshit insane I’m forced by some irrepressable urge within me to share it with anyone who happens to be nearby. Instead of running outside to accost people as they walk down the street I’ve decided to channel my enthusiasm straight into your eyeballs using the following words"

HalfLife2.net Interview with Hectic Glenn:
"We've overhauled all the weapons, added new perks, new maps, updated old maps, updated the HUD, added new in game announcements, included new and improved executions, new player models, ducks and new radio commands to name but a few things. Oh, and two new game modes."

Podcast 17: Jailbreak 0.5 Interview:
On the 26th of January 2009 we had the pleasure of being interviewed by the guys at Podcast 17! ModDB: Jailbreak 0.4 Preview - Written by Henley:
"You’re out on the battlefield, you’re dodging RPG’s and bullets trying to flank the enemy and take them by surprise, they were two steps ahead and you find yourself trapped in jail. The clock is ticking you don’t have too much time to run through the crazy mazes of lasers, air vents, and deadly gas. With this high pressure situation creates an urgency that most games lack, it’s both refreshing and engaging enough that there's never a dull moment. Team work is needed but it's not forcefed to you like many games/mods are striving for today. This allows you to play in whatever style suits you best and still have a contribution to a team win."

Interlopers: Interview with Blink:
"I understand you have version 0.4 to a playable beta stage, how has this been progressing and what kind of typical experience can a player expect?

Wills: A typical experience? We can sum it up in one word: Fun. There's nothing quite like the rush of running, falling, jumping and crawling your way toward the release switch whilst under fire from rockets, railguns and lasers... then jabbing that switch and releasing all your team mates! Then finally watching as they all come running out of the open doors and beat the other team to death with Laser Cleavers! There's never a dull moment in JB, you're either fighting to stay alive, fighting to release your team mates, or fighting to escape from jail!"

Planet Half-Life: Jailbreak 0.4.1 Review:
"Jailbreak [0.4.1] is a unique modification with dynamic gameplay. While the universe of Half-Life 2 is still present in the form of the Combine and Rebel player models, it is able to remove you from that area of play by the use of very different map locations and jail traps. The content of the game is good, but I look forward to the different map environments the most. There are maps that resemble a classic Quake 3 CTF and oddball wacky maps like an Elizabethan town in England. Who the hell does that? What other modification has massive team Deathmatch action in the middle of a creepy old town?"

Total PC Gaming: Review of Jailbreak 0.4:
"It's a novel twist on the typical deathmatch gameplay familiar to so many mods... but with a wider range of tactical options this could be one of the best multiplayer experiences in the crowded Half-Life 2 modding scene."

ModDB: Modcast Episode 4:
Just prior to the release of Jailbreak 0.4, two members of the Jailbreak team were invited to be interviewed by ModDB's Stenchy and Henley... The result was a fifty minute chat, involving Dinosaurs, Robots and Tophats! Skip to 34 minutes in to hear the interview!

PC Zone: Review of Jailbreak 0.3:
"Ok, the rules of Jailbreak are simple. If you kill someone they go to jail. If that seems unfair to you, then stop living in such a dumb, idealistic world. This isn't Christmas and Santa isn't keeping a list of who cuddled the most panda cubs."

Kotaku Article:
We were absolutely gobsmacked when Kotaku, yes, THE Kotaku, wrote an article about Jailbreak. We still haven't quite got over it. Wills is still in shock.

"The mod team behind Jailbreak! are fans of the classic variety of CTF, to the point where there's not even a flag anymore. Just the jails. Except now you've got guns. Get killed and you end up in a cell, where you're stuck until the game ends or someone is able to rescue you, bringing you back into the game. First team to lock up every member of the other side wins. It's an original enough premise, at least in terms of FPS games, and because of that definitely worth a look."
